Item: 00029
Title: The south parlor of the old Governor's Mansion, Bismarck (N.D.)
Date: 1907-1913
Creator: Burke photo
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0071-29.
Summary: The front or south window on the Avenue B side of the old Governor's Mansion, Bismarck (N.D.) and the east side bay windows on the 5th Street side let lots of light into the parlor, filtered by long lace curtains. A heavy wood-carved chair is in the front of the room, a Victorian spindle table with a tall vase on the top and a large Chinese vase on the lower self is in the area created by the bayed windows. An upright piano dominates the rest of the visible room. A screw-seat stool is at the piano, and an oriental carpet is on the floor. This is a Burke photo, given by Marian Burke in December, 1975, and dates from the years her family occupied the Governor's Mansion, 1907-1913.
