Title: Street view of the front of the Old Governor's Mansion and other houses on the block, Bismarck (N.D.)
Date: 1919
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0071-46.
Summary: Taken looking northwest at the street on which the Old Governor's Mansion sits, this photograph shows the thick tree growth that shades the Mansion and the three houses to the west on this block of E. Avenue B, Bismarck (N.D.). A mounting block still sits at the end of the sidewalk at the street curb. A woman in a tea-length light-colored coat walks on the sidewalk in front of the Mansion, heading west. Work to modify the original porch of the residence is underway. The earlier decorative flat spindles and railings of the porch have been removed, and framing is being installed to crate a screen porch. A worktable and planks are sitting on the east side of the front porch. The same modifications are being done to create a full sleeping porch across the second floor facade.
