Title: First National Bank & Trust building, Fargo (N.D.)
Date: 1926-1942
Inscription/Marks: On the front: "The First National Bank & Trust Company of Fargo, North DAkota". On the back: col. 75/569, and postcard marks and credit to the Pierce Co., Fargo, North Dakota".
Summary: A postcard produced and printed by Pierce Co, Fargo (N.D.) is a colored drawing of a newly built bank in downtown Fargo. The incised panel over the front entry of the building proclaims these dates and that this banking enterprise is the oldest in North Dakota. Built for around $30,000 in 1926, the structure was designed by W. F. Kurke of Fargo, working with the firm Toltz, King, and Day of St. Paul, Minnesota. A six story brick building with art deco style applied masonry panels in the upper areas, this is an attractive addition to the street. It rises high above an older, more modestly sized two-story commercial building next to it.
