Date: 1938-1942
Creator: Holt, B. M.
Inscription/Marks: On the back: col. 75/574, "45", and "B.M. Holt".
Summary: A street scene in downtown Fargo (N.D.) focusing on two tall structures set on 1st Street. The bulk of the tower-capped Masonic Temple dominates the north side of the street. Opening for occupancy in 1900, the Masonic Temple is made of dark Menominee red pressed brick, trimmed with Little Falls granite. A tower tops the building which was designed by M. E. Beebe and the Hancock Bros firm. The tower's pyramidal roof is supported by columns, and topped with the double eagle symbol of the fraternal order. It was demolished in 1968. Just across the street on the next block of 1st St. is the six-story Fargo Forum building. The Forum Building, built in light brick in 1926, is seen in the remodeled version in this image. The remodeling was completed in 1938, giving this picture a date of between 1938 and 1942.
