Title: The High School Assembly Room with seated students and standing teachers, Valley City (N.D.).
Date: 1903
Inscription/Marks: On the page below the mounted photograph: col. 76, "High School Assembly Room Contains 188 desks,Valley City, N.D."
Summary: 188 desks fill the Assembly Room in the Valley City (N.D.) High School. The sloping ceiling indicates this room is in the second floor of the building. This part of the school was built in 1903. The large room is well-proportioned with plenty of high windows and transom windows above the doors. Two many-bulbed light fixtures hang from the ceiling. All but the first row of desks are occupied with both boy and girl students. Standing are the members of the faculty. Left to right they are: Rosetta Brouillette, Music and Drawing teacher, two unidentified male teachers, Mary D. Richie, Latin and German, in profile, Superintendent George W. Hanna, Augusta Amundson Mathematics, and the Jennie Knowles, the Commercial teacher. __Mounted in a scrapbook dedicated to the Grade and High School in Valley City, North Dakota.
