Title: Students and their teacher in one of the Grade One Elementary School classrooms in Valley City (N.D.)

Inscription/Marks: On the page below the mounted photograph: col. 76-15, and "Grade One--Valley City, N.D."
Summary: Boys and girls of one of the Grade One classrooms at the Valley City (N.D.) elementary school read from their readers at their desks while the teacher works with another boy at her desk. Some of the students work at a long table set by the tall windows of the room. The three windows open onto the area between the grade school building and the adjoining brick high school building. One of the windows is hung with dozens of student-made paper chains. Blackboards line the walls. Mounted in a scrapbook dedicated to the Grade and High School in Valley City, North Dakota.
