Summary: North Dakota Governor Art Link holds a photograph of a statue of infamous Gen. George Armstrong Custer, at an event on the grounds of Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park in July, 1976. Beside the Governor are two men, identified as descendants of the Custer family, Charles and George A. Custer. A cannon and horses are on the parade ground behind the men at the speaker's podium. Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, established in 1907, is the oldest state park in North Dakota. Taken by Mandan, North Dakota photographer and photo stringer for the Bismarck Tribune, Bob Feickert, and part of a collection of several decades of newspaper photographs donated by the Tribune. Stamp dated Jul 17, 1976 and Aug 17, 1976.
