Civil Defense geiger counters, August, 1958", 2 col, 17176, "54" encircled, and the red, dated Tribune stamp.
Summary: Lieutenant Col. Noel F. Tharalson, Director of Bismarck's Civil Defense, and co-worker Major John F. Warga, Bismarck examine a table-full of geiger counters with John Turpin, Regional Training Officer from Denver, Colorado and George Blincoe, instructor from Battle Creek, Michigan's Fulton Abercrombie Radiological Defense School, and an unidentified man. Four men are in civilian dress, only Major Warga is in uniform. Governor Davis had appointed Tharalson to head the state civil defense organization in 1955 during the era of the Cold War.
