Summary: Elevated distant view of Fort Totten from Sully's Hill south of Devils Lake (N.D.) The buidlings, parade ground and water tank are surrounded by trees and bushes. Fort Totten was established in 1867 and closed in 1890. At that point the buildings were handed over to the Department of the Interior and used as an Indian school.

Summary: The photo collection reflects Reid’s wide range of interests: North Dakota history and the fauna, flora, and natural history of the state. Many of the views pertain to specific projects of the State Historical Society of North Dakota and, as such, constitute a photographic history of the organization.
