Summary: Full length full face standing studio portrait of Private Carter Huse standing at attention wearing his uniform and holding a rifle. He was enlisted in the 25th Infantry, a regiment of “Buffalo Soldiers.” He wears an 1884-pattern coat with white trim and facings, with the 1881- pattern dress helmet. The dark blue-backed service chevrons on his lower sleeves indicate that he had completed three five-year terms of peacetime enlistment.
