Summary: Outdoor portrait of oral history interviewee Charles William Dodge during Oral History Interview in Watford City, McKenzie County (N.D.). Head and shoulder, full face outdoor portrait of Charles William Dodge. He is wearing a patterned, open collar shirt with cowboy hat and glasses. He stands in front of wood framed house under a tree. Charles William Dodge, born February 11, 1901 to Clarence Rufus and Elsie Grace Alexander Dodge in Berg, McKenzie County (N.D.). In 1920, the family was living on a stock farm in Blue Butte, McKenzie County (N.D.). He married Lillian Cedella Van Dyke(1906-1994) on September 16,1922 and was living with her on a farm in Township 151, McKenzie County (N.D.) in 1930. In 1940, the family was living in Watford City, McKenzie County (N.D.) and Charles was working as a truck driver for a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. Charles died on November 16, 1982 in Watford City, McKenzie County (N.D.) and is buried in the Schafer Cemetery there with Lillian. Charles and Lillian had four children: Uretta Frances [Carrasco] (1923-2011) and Albridge C. (1925-), Beverly R. [Evanson] (1932-1987) and Waverly Y [Gaspari] (1934-).

Title: North Dakota Oral History Project Photograph Collection

Summary: Consists of copies of photographs belonging to people interviewed for the North Dakota Oral History Project. The Project was undertaken by Larry Sprunk, with the cooperation of the North Dakota American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, the North Dakota Farmers Union, and the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The primary objective of the North Dakota Oral History Project was to conduct oral tape recorded interviews with North Dakotans who lived through the state's history and who could speak of this history from a first-hand basis. Interviewees were photographed at the time of their interviews. In addition, the project borrowed over 6,000 historical photographs which were copied and added to the State Historical Society's collection. Many interviewees also donated family histories, documents, letters, ledgers, books, and artifacts.
