Title: "Wild Bill" Langer with his wife, Lydia, daughters Cornelia and Mary, and a dog at their Bismarck (N.D.) home

Summary: Seated in an old armchair in his home at 114 W. Avenue B, Bismarck (N.D.) is politician William Langer. Two time governor and long-time U.S. Senator, Langer is regarded as one of the real characters of North Dakota politics. Beside him on a stool in front of the brick fireplace of their home is one of his four daughters, Mary. She wears a sweater and pleated skirt suitable to her age, about 16-18, and to the time period, roughly 1944. A black Scottie is at Mrs. Langer's feet. She shares an upholstered couch with the youngest of the Langer sisters, Cornelia. This girl is wearing a kilt and knee-socks. Her daughters' names are not specified, but the oldest is Emma, born in 1918, followed by Lydia, Mary, and Cornelia. It appears likely these are the two youngest girls. Her husband holds a cigar in his hand. Mrs. Langer herself ran for elected position unsuccessfully.
