Collection: 00071 - Former Governors' Mansion Photograph Collection
Folder: 0002
Item: 00039_05
Title: Two employees of the Old Governor's Mansion, Bismarck (N.D.)
Date: Circa 1955
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0071-39-05, and "ca. 1950".
Summary: Two men stand outside the Old Governor's Mansion carriage house in this casual photograph from around 1955. Neither are identified, but the older man wears a white, cut-away jacket such as waiters might have as a special event uniform. This man also has a cigarette in holder in his hand. Possibly this is the chauffeur Phil Fetch, who also filled in at domestic duties for the governor and his wife. The other man is younger, and dresses much more casually. His coat is of a denim fabric. The doors of the carriage house/garage are behind the men, and the trees are bare in the neighbors yards.
