Summary: Elizabeth Schwan (left) and Nicholas Bischoff (right) stand behind table in their living room with two lit candles, two flower arrangements in formal dress at the celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Gottes Eck (God’s Corner) in upper right of image. Elizabeth Schwan and Nicholas Bischoff were married on February 27, 1906 at Fulda, near Berwick, North Dakota. This photograph is from their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1956. Photograph by Theresa Bischoff Halvorson, their youngest daughter, taken in Bischoff home at 318 4th Street, Rugby, North Dakota. [Information from Mark J. Halvorson] Ethnic group - specifically Catholic, Black Sea Germans from Russia (Schwartz Meer Deutsche) from the Kutschurgan villages, not German-Americans. They were emigrants from Russia, Grandpa was a naturalized citizen and spoke English in addition to German and Russian. Grandma only spoke German.
