Summary: Two women and four men, members of the North Dakota State Canvassing Board, sit at a table in the Capitol building in Bismarck, examining documents relating to the election of November, 1974. The Board is composed of the Clerk of the Supreme Court, the State Treasurer, the Secretary of State, and the chairs of the two political parties which "cast the highest vote for Governor at the last gubernatorial election. The Board was required to meet within 17 days of each statewide election to canvass the election results received from each county, and to certify the statewide and district totals for the candidates and measures. It was to examine the returns of election votes received from the various counties and verify the computed final results in a manner as adopted by the Board. Taken to accompany a news story by Bismarck Tribune photographer, Leo LaLonde, and part of a collection of several decades of newspaper photographs donated by the Tribune.
