Title: Tolley Community Hall, Renville County (N.D.)
Date: 4/19/1905
Inscription/Marks: On the back: col. 75/579, and "44" stamped.
Summary: A number of men are entering the front door of the newly constructed Community Hall in the town of Tolley (N.D.). Other men have gathered near the back corner of the stucco structure. The hall, built in 1936 as a WPA project, is large, but of a simple design. A rectangular two-story gable roof building, the front facade has a full height entry extension, slightly narrower than the main block, and with a triangular pediment. The front door is at above grade, with decorative railings and proscenium around the entry. A little gable roof projects to funnel rain from above the door. The name of the hall and the construction date are framed in separate diamond shaped on the upper front facade. A plain building with the exception of the front stairs and the Art Deco inspired vertical details above and below the windows. A sign on the lawn states: USA-Work-WPA.
