Title: Steamers Weston and Deapolis at the steamboat landing, Bismarck (N.D.)

Summary: Steamers Weston and Deapolis at the Bismarck landing. Planks are laid from the Weston to the shore to walk on, the boat has freight aboard, and men seem to be posing for the camera. Four men are on the boat, and two are standing on the plank. Men are standing on the ground, one is well dressed in a suit and hat. The Missouri River train bridge is in the background.||The Weston, a sternwheel packet with a wood hull, was built in Running Water, S.D., in 1901. She was originally named Little Maud. Owned by the Benton Packet Co. While the Weston was bound from Bismarck to Fort Yates, N.D., on Sept. 7, 1909, she was snagged and lost.The Deapolis, built in Bismarck in 1908, was a Benton Packet Company boat. I. P. Baker owned the Benton Packet Company, which was headquartered in Bismarck. The Deapolis was equipped with a gasoline motor. In 1920, she was sold to the Red Trail Ferry Co. She was destroyed by ice and dismantled in 1923.

Summary: At some point in time the State Historical Society separated photographs into collections by size. The A collection consists of items 4 X 5” or less, the B collection consists of items 5 X 7” or less, the C collection consists of items 8 X 10” or less, the D collection consists of items 11 X 14” or less, and the E collection consists of items larger than 11 X 14”.

  • “Item Detail” searches the Title, Creator and Summary fields of all item-level records.
  • “Collection Number” searches the Collection Number field only and requires an exact match.

The “DETAILS” button provides additional information about an item, as well as the following options:

  • “Collection Summary” details the contents of the entire collection in which the selected item is located.
  • You can print the image and its corresponding details by selecting “Print".
  • “Digitized Images from the Collection” returns a list of all digitized items within that collection (available from the “Collection Summary” screen).
