Inscription/Marks: [caption card] Executives of the North Dakota Sunday School Association. Title-State Superintendent. Left - Walter Snow, Center in rear - Cleveland A. Armstrong, Right - James C. Garrison who later became the Executive of the Minnesota Council of Religious Education. [history] Walter A. Snow was living in Fargo, Cass, North Dakota in 1915. He is listed in the Fargo, Cass, North Dakota City Directory as the General Secretary for the North Dakota Sunday School Association. Cleveland A. Armstrong (b. 29 Dec 1886 Harvey ND d. May 1972) was the minister for the Methodist Episcopal Church in Kensal (ND) in 1917. He is buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, Cass, North Dakota. James C. Garrison (b. 1880 New York d. before 1930 St. Paul MN) In 1920 he lived in Fargo Ward 4, Cass, North Dakota and was Superintendent of the North Dakota Sunday School Association. In 1935, his widow Hope is living in St. Paul Minnesota. He is listed as Superintendent of the of the North Dakota Sunday School Association in 1920.
Summary: Vignetted studio portrait of Walter Snow, Cleveland A. Armstrong, James C. Garrison Executives of the North Dakota Sunday School Association. They are arranged in a pyramid form in front of a painted backdrop and curtains. All are dressed in suit jackets, vests and slim patterned ties with white shirts. Rembrandt lighting was used with the light source high and to the photo left so that only a small shadow is cast on Armstrong by Snow in the foreground. The background is of a forest scene and the curtains show to photo right.
