Summary: A tall monument with a statue of a soldier standing atop a column with the courthouse in the background. Several people are in the park around the monument. A small girl is standing holding a bicycle in the foreground. The Walsh County Courthouse, designed by F.C. Croser, was erected in 1886. The Soldiers' Monument was constructed in 1900 as a tribute to the men of Company C, First North Dakota Regiment, and their participation in the Philippine Insurrection campaign. The monument bears an quote of General Lawton:
