Summary: A view of the gate at the entrance to the grounds of the State Normal School in Valley City. The gates, donated by the class of 1909, are made of brick, and have lamps hanging from them. Trees and a walking path are visible in the background. The State Normal School at Valley City was established in 1890. The name changed to Valley City State Teachers College in 1921, and then to Valley City State College in 1963. The name changed a final time to Valley City State University in 1988 or 1989.
