Summary: View from outside the fort showing the buildings around the parade grounds. The flagpole stands at right towards the background. A gazebo is located in the center foreground. A shed is in the right foreground. Trees line the road around the parade grounds. Fort Totten was established in 1867 and closed in 1890. At that point the buildings were handed over to the Department of the Interior and used as an Indian school.
