Automobiles are visible parked in front of one of the buildings.||The Washburn Lignite Coal Company was founded by businessman and politician William Washburn in 1900. At one point, this mine near Wilton was the largest of its type in the world. In 1928 the company was bought out by Otter Tail Power Company.
