Summary: People walk along storefronts. There are wagons on the street. Utility poles run next to the sidewalk.||This community was founded by the Northern Pacific Railroad company in 1874 and went through many name changes until 1878 when it became known as Valley City. The Northern Pacific Railroad and Soo Line Railroad main lines both pass through this town.

Summary: Scenes from around North Dakota, including images of farms of Norwegian and Danish immigrants in Sargent and Richland counties, the Gold Spike expedition for completion of the Northern Pacific Railroad 1883, and portraits and postcards.
