Summary: Three quarter view, head and shoulders studio portrait of woman in lace dress with flower pattern, scarf around her neck and collar held by petal shaped broach. Her hair is curly, pin curls in the front. Her image has been heavily retouched especially the eyes, enhancing the eye area and adding highlights. The image is vignetted, fading to white of the background. [Eisenhuth, Laura J. Kelly--1859-1937 (May 29, 1859 – September 30, 1937)] Laura J. Kelly Eisenhuth was an educator and politician from North Dakota. When she was elected the state's superintendent of public instruction in 1892, she became the first woman in the United States to win an election for state office.
