Summary: A flour mill is burning in left center with an open field in the foreground. The town of Elbowoods is visible in the right background.||Elbowoods is the English translation of the name given this place next to the Missouri River by the Mandan and Arikara tribes. The town was founded in 1889 and served as the agency town for the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation from 1893-1953. The town was submerged by the creation of the Garrison dam and Lake Sakakawea.
