Summary: Three-quarter view from chest-up studio portrait. John is wearing adark jacket with his Civil War medals on his left side. They include a "Survivor" pin, Company G, 63rd Ohio Infantry and Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) medal with a bar containing a cross and United States flag. He is also wearing a Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) pin on his coat lapel. He has white hair with a long full beard and mustache. The background is plain medium tone.
