Inscription/Marks: Noted on back: Col9-19 Harrison Collection. Log Cabin and Metis?. Gift, State Game and Fish Dept. Aug. 1964. And pencilled:scycle blade.
Summary: This scene shows a Metis family posed outside a one-room log cabin that stands in a clearing in a brushy area. Typical Metis workmanship shows in the building details. Note the traditional notching of the corners. Three men, a young woman and a girl stand or are seated in chairs by the front door of the cabin. A small dos stands beside glass bottles at the corner of the cabin. The roof is sodded. Stacked firewood and various items are visible outside the cabin. The older man holds a six-foot long strip of metal triangles which have been rivetted in a row. This may be part of a scycle-mower.
