Summary: A survey crew works in the Devils Lake area. A horse and buggy are at the left side of the scene. Nearest to the buggy is a man in dark clothes, hat, and light suspenders, who has finished placing one stake and holds a new one in his hand. Nearby, one man holds the stadia rod while another man watches. Off to the right is the surveyor with the transit. Horses and carriages are visible in the background. Behind the surveying crew is a long open prairie view, with a strip of water or snow.
