Title: First Stage Bowman County (D.T.)
Date: Circa 1880
Inscription/Marks: On the back is information noted in the summary, donor name and date, and col. 50-01.
Summary: A man, identified as Oscar Hanon, holds the reins of two horses hitched to an open air stagecoach or wagon in Bowman County (D.T.). The stage has one seat for passengers and area for luggage in back. A tarp, rolled up and tied on top, can be lowered if conditions call for it. In the background is wood frame house and stacked sod house next to it. The team is covered with plaid blankets. Notes on the back state that this is the first stage in Bowman County, in the Dakota Territory period. It was owned and operated by Shorty Quinlan, and the driver was Oscar Hanon. The stage ran between Bowman and Karinen, South Dakota, with stops at Amor and Langberg. Taken at some unnoted date before statehood.
