Inscription/Marks: [back] This is the original home of M.H. Gesaman, on the SE 1/4 of Sec. 22, Gascoyne Twp (130-99), and col. 50-09.
Summary: Snow dots the farmyard in the foreground of this photograph of a family standing in front of the buildings of their property in Gascoyne Township, Morton County, (N.D.). Taken in 1902, the scene shows five members of the M.H. Gesaman family outside the main house. A saddled horse and a dark cat join the people for this picture. A young woman in a dark dress wwith a white collar stands near the horse, a little boy and older girl at her side. an older woman in a white apron stands with her arms crossed near a man in a sweater and cap. Several structures are visible. Behind the man ia a low homestead shack made of stacked sod. It is adjacent to the house which is constructed using rammed earth technics common to this region. In the background is another sod blck shed, and a couple of wood-framed farm sheds.
