Title: Parade for the visiting Norwegian Prince Olav and his wife, in downtown Fargo (N.D.)
Date: 6/9/1939
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 0075-116.
Summary: The streets of downtown Fargo (N.D.) are lined with spectators waving Norwegian and United States Flags. Down the brick-paved street motorcycle police form a protective shield for a vehicle bearing dignitaries. Above the street flags of Norway and the United States have been strung. The occasion marks the visit to the town by the Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway. The princess arrived by train at the Great Northern depot at about on Thursday, June 8, 1939. She was met by officials and taken to the home of Congressman L.B. Hanna, where the royal couple stayed during their visit. Her husband arrived separately from Grand Forks, where the couple had arrived on June 7th. On Friday, June 9, the couple led this parade from Moorhead to Fargo in the morning. The visit was highly celebrated in the area.
