Folder: 0008
Item: 00291
Title: WPA-built addition and the old schoolhouse in Plaza (N.D.)
Date: 1936-1942
Inscription/Marks: On the front in green ink: Plaza School Addition. On the back: 0075-291, "61", and "A62" stamped.
Summary: Teeter-totters, swings and other pieces of playground equipment sit idle in the schoolyard of the Plaza (N.D.) school. Recently constructed by the WPA is a thee story brick addition with banks of windows on one facade, and a fire-escape ascending to less symmetrically placed windows on the side of the building. A plain building with only small decorative elements on the pediment, it has a smaller building attached on the playground side. This is a single story plain brick rectangle with several doors. The entire addition dwarfs the original building to the extent that almost all that is seen of the original structure is the school tower and part of one side.
