Summary: Two unidentified young women preside over the silver punchbowl used for state occassions such as the Inaugural Ball celebrating the 1975 Legislative Session at the North Dakota Capitol. The bowl, part of the 40 piece silver service commissioned for the battleship USS North Dakota in 1915 for $16,000, was turned over to the state in 1926. The bowl has buffalo heads as the handles, and exhibits many prairie specific motifs. The wome wear long dresses or divided skirts fashionable in 1975. Taken by a Bismarck Tribune photographer, possibly Leo LaLonde, Steve Wallick, or Jerry Anderson, all working at the paper during this period, and part of a collection of several decades of newspaper photographs donated by the Tribune.
