Summary: Presidential candidate Jimmy Carter waves from the open door of the "Peanut One" plane that carried him on the whistlestop campaign around the country. The stop at the airport in Bismarck, North Dakota took place on September 14, 1976. The nick-name for the plane is painted on the side under the pilot's window. A crowd is waiting at the bottom of the stairs of the plane, and two men are with Carter. Taken by Tribune photographer and journalist Ted Quanrud and part of a large collection of images donated by the Bismarck Tribune.
