Summary: Two young men stand on chairs placed somewhat dangerously atop folding tables, hanging one of the signs that decorate the Bismarck Civic Center walls during the 1976 North Dakota Democratic Convention. In the foreground, awaiting hanging, is a large campaign poster showing the smiling gubernatorial candidate Art Link. Elected first in 1973, Link was seeking re-election. It would appear the image was taken during the set-up time for the event. The Democratic Convention ran that year from June 24 through June 26. Taken during the convention, by a Bismarck Tribune photographer, possibly Leo LaLonde, Steve Wallick, Ted Quanrud, or Jerry Anderson, all working at the paper during this period, and part of a collection of several decades of newspaper photographs donated by the Tribune.
