Date: 04/30/1976
Inscription/Marks: On the back: 00080-0008-00199 replaces "box01-f4-05","Walt Kinnischitzke Pres Nurserymans Association Link the shovel", "Apr 30, 76", "planting of bicentennial tree on capitol grounds", and "Jul 15 1976" stamped.
Summary: On the north-east section of the North Dakota Capitol grounds, Gov. Art Link is busily shoveling a hole in which, with the help of Walt Kinnischitzke of Green Thumb Nursery, he will plant a tree to honor the Bicentennial. Kinnischitzke holds the bare tree and a small group of onlookers stand beside the area where the work is occuring. Kinnischitzke was president of the Nurserymans' Association. Likely an event linked with the celebration of Arbor Day as well. Link is in a light-weight plaid suit and his helper wears a poplin windbreaker and a seed cap. A man is filming the April 30, 1976 event. Taken by a Bismarck Tribune photographer, possibly Leo LaLonde, Steve Wallick, Ted Quanrud, or Jerry Anderson, all working at the paper during this period, and part of a collection of several decades of newspaper photographs donated by the Tribune.
