Summary: Rodeo trick rider and performer Montie Montana, astride his horse Rex, is stunt roping the Governor of North Dakota, John Davis in Memorial Hall of the state Capitol, to the delight of women in the building elevator and stockman Ray Schnell. Montana, born Owen Harlan Mickel in Wolf Point, Montana, was a a roping legend with many credits to his name in western movies produced in Hollywood. He was a constant presence on the rodeo circuit for decades, and was inducted into many state Halls of Fame for his showmanship and skills. Davis is being a good sport with the lasso around his torso. Laughing beside the Governor is Ray Schnell, holding a straw western hat. Ray Schnell was a prominent republican who served as North Dakota lieutenant governor under Governor Clarence Norman Brunsdale. He ran for governor in 1956 and was in the state House for several sessions.
