Title: A little Amy watches Mrs. Willie L. Hall, Buffalo Bird Woman, and her mother Mrs. Goodbird weaving reeds

Inscription/Marks: On the front: Numbers 1-3 above the women's figures, and IV-31-1910, which corresponds to numbering of Minnesota Historical Society Wilson photos. On the back: col. 86-114, and the identifications noted in the summary. (A unmarked copy is in the box, same number)
Summary: In the yard of a wood-sided house three women sit at work weaving rushes. A small girl sits with them on the hide work area. She is Amy, daughter of Goodbird. The women are identified, left to right as Mrs. Good Bird, Buffalo Bird Woman, and Mrs. Willie Hall. Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Good Bird are sisters. Taken in 1910 during the Wilson ethnographic study of the Hidatsa. __There are two copies of this photo: one with the numbers on the face, and one without.

Summary: Consists of prints and some copy negatives of several photographers on the Fort Berthold Reservation, primarily Gilbert L. Wilson, and also including Frances Densmore, Frank Fiske, Fred Olson, Sumner Matteson, and several unidentified photographers. Ewald wrote identification of many photographs in his collection based upon suggestions from the people of Fort Berthold. Images include celebrations and gatherings, dances, sweat lodges, Little Missouri camps, cradles, portraits, Buffalo Bird Woman, Wolf Chief, Goodbird, Indian crafts and skills, artifacts, wood gathering, gardening, food processing and cooking, earth lodges, bullboats, travois, and Indian cowboys.
