Summary: A weathervane, a gazebo, trees, and some snow stand on the grounds of Camp Hancock in Bismarck. A sign for a John Deere dealership is just visible through the trees at far left.[Photos taken by Paul L. Cooper, Acting Field Director, River Basin Surveys, Burnett Hall, University of Nebrasaka, Lincoln 8, Nebraska on April 12, 1950.] [Camp Hancock was originally known as Camp Greeley, founded in 1872. The name changed the following year. The site initially was the supply depot for Fort Lincoln. The post, as seen here, became an office of the Weather Bureau after it was no longer needed to supply Fort Lincoln. Today the site is located in Bismarck on West Main Street.]
