Title: Fire damage to Camp Hancock officers quarters building looking southwest Bismarck (N.D.)

Summary: Three quarter view of two story building showing fire damaged siding with boards are missing from former officer's quarters building at Camp Hancock, after a fire forced the abandonment of the building by the Soil Conservation Service on May 21, 1949. There are wooden boxes under the covered porch, a straight ladder at the corner of the east side going from ground level to the roof. On the opposite end is a sign attached to the west corner with word "Hudson." A modern storm door at the top of wooden stairs allows entrance to the interior of the building. On the far right of the photo is a vine-covered gazebo. Beyond the site are other buildings on Main Avenue in Bismarck (N.D.) with a Mobile service station and Hudson car dealership are partially visible. [Photos taken by Paul L. The name changed the following year. The site initially was the supply depot for Fort Abraham Lincoln. The post, as seen here, became an office of the Weather Bureau after it was no longer needed to supply Fort Abraham Lincoln.
