Summary: People sit in front of a stage and stand in front of the Northern Pacific steam locomotive at Camp Hancock on the occasion of its dedication in Bismarck (N.D.). Flags and patriotic bunting decorate the stage. Many dignitaries attended including Judge Thomas Burke, Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, Robert S. Macfarlane, President of Northern Pacific Railroad, North Dakota Governor Norman Brunsdale and Bismarck Mayor Evan Lips. [Camp Hancock was originally known as Camp Greeley, founded in 1872. The name changed the following year. The site initially was the supply depot for Fort Abraham Lincoln. The post, as seen here, became an office of the Weather Bureau after it was no longer needed to supply Fort Abraham Lincoln. Today the site is located in Bismarck on West Main Street.]
