Summary: The cabin used by Theodore Roosevelt on the Maltese Cross Ranch near Medora sits in a stand of mature trees on the North Dakota Capitol Grounds in Bismarck.||The Maltese Cross Ranch cabin was located seven miles south of Medora. Roosevelt acquired an interest in the ranch in 1883 and actively ranched in the Badlands until 1887 and maintained an active interest in the area until 1898. During his presidency, the cabin was exhibited in Portland and St. Louis, and then moved to the Capitol Grounds in Bismarck. It was relocated to the south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in 1959. __E. R. Steinbrueck photos for My Red Brother.
