Date: 9/10/1926
Creator: Reid, Russell,--1900-1967
Inscription/Marks: [Handwritten on front of photograph] #135 [Russell Reid log for 00200-5x7 negatives] Jamestown, State Fish Hatchery, Spiritwood Lake, 16 miles northeast of Jamestown, N.D. September 10, 1926.
Summary: Two buildings sit on the edge of the lake with a rock wall surrounding the lake on the buildings side. Photo left a diving board leans out over the lake and three men in suits sit on the wall photo right. A boat ramp photo right leads from the dark coloured building to the interior where a boat sits on a support. Far photo right a boat named "Victoria" is tied up to the dock. Above the two buildings on the hillside is a wood-sided house with a rock staircase leading up from the dock to the house. An automobile is parked photo right of the house. The buildings are similar to rounded barns (or Dutch Colonial) with the building on photo left having a base of river rock with an entrance porch with pillars and dormer windows on the second floor. The wall between the two buildings has inset windows to stop the wind from disturbing the tourists. The building photo right is another modified barn shape with dark wood siding, two storage entry doors with ramp, double sash windows in the upper floor and a paned window turned to provide a diamond shape at the peak of the roof. There is a stone chimney at the back of the building and power pole at the front.
