Title: Peck's Trading Post at Fort Totten
Date: Circa 1880
Summary: Durfee & Peck, later of Montana, ran a trading post at Ft. Totten in early 1880s. It stood on a rise N of the present fort and near the present store. It is entirely destroyed but I located the old site and got a copy of a picture taken long ago. The left end of this log building was residence and hotel, then a store, then billiard room and then saloon at S end. In rear the brewery. Sully hill in far background. The lake was in background far left. When ND organized in 1889, state was dry and Peck moved to Fort Peck and had a trading post. __Original photo in possession of William Milne of Sheyenne N.D. who secured it at the fort the day the soldiers marched to Lallie Ry station when the fort was vacated Nov. 18, 1890.
