Item: 00573
Title: All-girls band marching in the parade honoring the Crown Prince of Norway, in downtown Fargo (N.D.)
Date: 6/1939
Inscription/Marks: On the back: col. 75/573, and "a celebration at Fargo".
Summary: The flags festooning the streets of downtown Fargo are both the United States flag and the Norwegian flag. Below the flags the sidewalks of Broadway Street are crowded with people of all ages who are watching an all-girl marching band pass. The sign for the Alex Stern & Co. Clothing store is visible. It appears to be a large parade. Likely, given the number of people holding Norwegian flags, that this is a view of the parade held to celebrate the June 1939 visit to the Red River Valley by Crown Prince Olav and his wife, the Princess Martha.
