Title: Milkmaids' Convention, Casselton (N.D.)

Inscription/Marks: The man is Dr. William Tyler Sprake, pioneer and long time dentist in Casselton. Fifth in the middle row is his wife the former Zoe Watson, dauther of James M. Watson, Watson Twp. Cass County homesteader 1882. Watson was a member of the Constitutional Convention. Watson was later a Kensal merchant. Fourth in the middle row is Mrs. Morris B. Fitch, third in the back row is Gertrude Metcalf, Casselton school teacher.
Summary: Group portrait of the milkmaids in costume with milking stools in front and held by girls in the back row. There is a cowbell on one of the stools.

Summary: At some point in time the State Historical Society separated photographs into collections by size. The A collection consists of items 4 X 5” or less, the B collection consists of items 5 X 7” or less, the C collection consists of items 8 X 10” or less, the D collection consists of items 11 X 14” or less, and the E collection consists of items larger than 11 X 14”.

  • “Collection Number” searches the Collection Number field only and requires an exact match.

  • “Digitized Images from the Collection” returns a list of all digitized items within that collection (available from the “Collection Summary” screen).
