Title: Original North Dakota State Capitol from southeast, Bismarck (N.D.)
Date: 1905
Creator: Risem Studio
Summary: Three quarter view of south and east side of the old North Dakota State Capitol. A concrete walkway and steps lead to the east parking area of the capitol. It is lined with young trees, plants and grass. A petrified log is next to a bush in the mid photo right side. Two automobiles are parked along the edge of the landscaped area. A small trimmed hedge lines the road that leads under the porte-cochere and balcony on the south side of the capitol. Concrete curbs separate the landscaped areas from the dirt road. The pediment above the arched windows sports an eagle seated on an oval with horns holding up the year 1834 and surrounded by floral scrollwork. The arched windows have half wheels of stained glass. A United States flag waves on a flagpole mounted on top of the capitol about midpoint on the original building. The east addition has rectangular sash windows on the basement, first story and fourth story with arched windows on the third story. These are also sash windows without the stained glass in the original building. The east addition entrance is still shielded by a wooden entrance with a angled roof.
