Summary: A view of the bridge where a section of the bridge is turned on its pedestal to allow barges to pass. A small group of people stand on the bridge. Coal and grain barges used the lake on the upper Des Lacs River, where the railroad crossed the water. A section of this bridge could be turned on a pedestal to allow the barges to pass. This same method, a turn span, was used at Grand Forks for the Northern Pacific Railroad bridge over the Red River.
