Inscription/Marks: [front-print] The Soldier's Home, Lisbon, N.D. [back-written] Dear Minnie- I got my waist it all right. Allie sent me a dress last week. I suppose if you and Allie did not send me clothes I do without. Did that freeze hurt your gardens it hurt mine some. The beans, tomatoes and some floweres. you did not tell me how your incubator hatched. Mine is to hatch today. Not a egg [illegible] (17 turkey eggs set, 29 geese eggs, 95 duck eggs and 23 ducks, 8 geese. [addressed] Mrs. Minnie Triplett, Peterson, Ia.
Summary: A large brick building with a tower sits towards the left. A flag and flagpole are on the roof. There is a water tower behind that building. Another building is visible in the towards the right background. In front of the buildings are the grounds of the facility, with a large lawn, trees and bushes. The first soldier was admitted to this facility in 1893. In 1899 a hospital was built and in 1907 the commandant's quarters were built. All original structures were red brick.
