Inscription/Marks: [front-print] Soldiers Home, Lisbon N.D. [back-written] Elmer- Lisbon N. Dak. Friday Oct 16. Well here we are just back from your Aunt Mays, are all well. Bert was here to meet us. It is hot today. How are you getting along. Will soon be starting toward Peterson. Well I must stop and walk on with the rest, Minnie. [addressed] Elmer Triplett, Peterson Iowa.
Summary: A large brick building with a tower sits towards the left. There is a water tower behind that building. Another building is visible in the distance at center. In front of the buildings are the grounds of the facility, with a large lawn, trees and bushes. The first soldier was admitted to this facility in 1893. In 1899 a hospital was built and in 1907 the commandant's quarters were built. All original structures were red brick.
